Choosing the right size of lampshade

There are many mathematical theories about the correct size of lampshade to go for when buying for a table lamp or floor lamp. My own advice is this: have whatever you think looks great! Try a few existing lampshades from around the house with the lamp base you wish to use, until you find the proportions that suit you best. If you're really not sure, go for a shade that's around a third of the total height of the lamp.

Belle Top Tip for Ceilings – is go BIG!  There’s a lot of space to fill up there, and if you have the head height … then far from swamping a room, often a larger shade makes the room look bigger and more impressive.

All of our lampshades can be used with both pendant and lamp fittings, except where indicated. All are treated with fire retardant fabric spray as standard. We recommend using a 60W bulb maximum with our lampshades, which equates to 800 lumens.
